| Attractions in Lake Panorama, Panora, Guthrie Center Area
Lake Panorama was founded in 1964. It is the largest private lake resort in Iowa. The lake is 1,400 acres with 31 miles of shoreline. The East side features an 18 hole Lake Panorama National Golf Course and the West side a 9 hole Par 3 Golf Course. Approximately , 800 homes surround the lake.
Panorama Days are held annually the first full weekend in August. Dances, parade, fun runs, vendors, local artist and on going entertainment highlight the event. A ski show occurs in the Main Basin of Lake Panorama.
Lights and Holiday Display begins the first Saturday of December on the Town Square. Local organization sponsors a tour of homes in the Panora area.
Travel the Raccoon River Valley Bicycle Trail from Des Moines to the east side of Panora on black topped surfaces.
Located in a beautiful park setting on the southwest side of Panora the Historical Village features Guthrie County history including an antique and artifacts building, log cabin, general store, Milwaukee Railroad depot and Caboose, church, one room country school, Blacksmith shop, implement exhibit hall and coal mine display. (May to October)
Every Labor Day, Guthrie Center sponsors the Guthrie County Fair with events, contests and a variety of stadium entertainment.
The town of Panora offers a unique shopping experience with 10 gift shops and 14 dining establishments.
